Care of Self
Personal hygiene tasks and dressing skills.
"Care of Self" activities in the Practical Life area of a Montessori preschool help children learn to take care of their own needs. These activities are designed to promote independence, build confidence, and develop fine motor skills.
Examples of "Care of Self" activities we do at GVM
- Buttoning and Zipping Frames: These frames have different types of fasteners for children to practice on.
- Handwashing Station: A small sink or basin with soap and towels at child height.
- Hair Care Station: Combs and brushes available for children to practice grooming their hair.
- Snack Preparation Area: Child-sized utensils and food items for children to prepare their own snacks.
These activities are integrated into the daily routine of the classroom, giving children multiple opportunities to practice and master these important skills.
